As an artist and forever a student of art, i have always appreciated when an exhibit of paintings includes preliminary work created by the artist that show to me the painter’s thoughtful planning and practice of the elements that are eventually used in the final artwork. It is a way of looking into the artist's thought process.
The inclusion of my color sketches here for you is twofold:
To allow other artists and art students to see my preliminary study of a subject, as well as to be able to consider a sketch rendering as a finished piece in and of itself
In working from life, I don’t always have the time to create what I would consider a finished painting, where all the areas of the images would be fleshed out and considered. By leaving the artwork in sketch from, it creates small notes of information I am able to use when proceeding on a new canvas, using the information in the sketch as preliminary information in order to create a piece that is more developed and considered than the sketch itself
